do these bicycles belong to people visiting or living at this home I wonder...

there's something about the togetherness of these bicycles, that is almost animal like...

...waiting faithfully for their master(s) or mistress(es) to emerge...

pedals and politics in New York

choosing the bicycle instead of the car has, seemingly, always been viewed by some as a political, anti-car statement that irritates people.

lots of emotions tend to be involved and assumptions and generalisations made about the type of person that drives cars and rides bikes respectively... (I never cease to be amazed by the fact that most journalists assume that people who ride bikes don't drive cars and vice versa.)

now, politics, power plays, law suits, vested interests, generalisations, and assumptions gather at once to appear in press...

car parks and real estate values vs bicycle lanes....
a high profile game is being played in New York... and when something happens there, many listen...

and so it seems here... The New York times reports a story here about wealthy citizens filing a suit "against a bike lane" and then The Guardian writes about it here...

look out in your local newspaper for how the law suit in New York will affect your riding life...

I would like to think and hope that not everything in New York affects my life and riding experiences... furthermore, I'd like to think that local authorities are not so insecure that they need to look to new york for answers...
